In light of the recent controversy surrounding Fern Britton following her admission about using surgery to help combat her weight there has been a degree of unfair press aimed at gastro bypass procedures.
However, Methley Park Hospital in Leeds is currently championing their procedures that are helping people re-gain their confidence in their figure by tightening up following aforementioned procedures.
Many people resort to surgery in a bid to win a quick fix in their battle against obesity but sometimes people forget the greatest pitfall that awaits them after any weight loss surgery and that is the excess skin that can make one's appearance seem sluggish, loose and saggy.
Surgeons at Methley Park are pioneering schemes to eradicate this. Mr Fourie, one of the surgeons at Methley Park, explains that when people lose excessive weight of between 8-10 stone they can develop bingo wings, saggy breast and droopy skin on the thighs but using their procedures they can remove this by 'recycling' the excess skin.
"We remove the excess skin that has been left from the weight loss and tighten up other areas. For instance, we can take the extra fat and skin and use it to build up and boost the breasts. The Tummy is treated either as a conventional tummy tuck or if the bottom is very saggy, as a circumferential body lift where the extra skin is used to make the flat bottom a more rounded shape," explains Mr Fourie.
The continued spotlight focused on celebrities and their procedures doesn't help the situation with Mr Fourie claiming it makes "unhappy fat patient's very unhappy skinny patients with droopy features."
The ability of the surgeons at Methley Park is helping people of Yorkshire to not only improve their appearance after surgery but also educate them about the pitfalls following gastric bypass procedures.
With these procedures remote on the NHS Methley Park are providing a great service to the people of Yorkshire.
